Let’s start a rebelution- a rebellion revolution

Have you ever had one of those times were you know you’re being told a lie? Maybe you couldn’t really pin down exactly why it’s a lie but you knew deep-down inside what you were hearing wasn’t true. I feel that way when I watch television, listen to the radio, and surf the Internet. I’m convinced I’m being fed a lie.

So I’d like you to join me in a rebelution- a rebellion revolution.   It’s a rebellion against the lie that we are being fed.  To quote Grammy award winner Lecrae’s song Rebel its- “Rebelling against the culture, being transformed Not conformed to the ways of this world, or this age. Welcome to the Rebel-ution.”

Don’t believe the lie

So here’s my challenge to you. Don’t believe the lie. Examine what the popular media is teaching you.    Have you bought into the lie that you can live anywhere you want? Have you believed the lie that you don’t have to answer for your actions? Have you started to go along with the crowd?

Almost every day we’re being fed this life-  It’s good to do what feels good. Live for the now, without worry of the future. Satisfy your desires… You’ve earned it.   These are all fairly dangerous lies. What makes them so dangerous is that you have this desire already inside of you. So the ability to resist that desire takes great strength.   It’s really easy to listen to the desires inside of you but if you let them they will lead you astray. After all, the Bible says that in Jeremiah 4:14 and Genesis 6:5.  Don’t trust your heart- it will lie to you if you let it.

Don’t settle

Don’t settle for second best.  Maybe you’ve seen the popular Direct TV television commercials about the settlers. The pioneer family says, “We settle- it’s what we do.”   The truth is we’re all a bunch of settlers. It’s what we all do. We often settle for less than God’s best for us.

By God’s best I’m not referring to money, or health, or fame… I’m talking about a deeper walk with King Jesus.  If you accept anything less than a deep walk with King Jesus you’re “a settler”.    There’s a powerful example of this told in Matthew 19:16-20.   A very rich, very powerful man comes up to Jesus and wants to know what it takes to have more of a relationship with God. Jesus gives him the one answer he did not want to hear.   He told him you find more by having less (Matthew 19:21).   This man, who had it all, but did not have Jesus, left longing for more (Matthew 19:22). Don’t be a settler. Don’t settle for second best. Don’t trade anything for a relationship with Jesus.

Don’t give in

Don’t ever, ever, ever give up on your faith! Let’s face it, it’s hard to live a good, godly life today.  You may be surprised to know that this is what the Bible teaches in 2 Thessalonians 3:13.   Anyone who tells you it’s easy to live a godly life today is a liar.   Which means, it’s virtually a guarantee, there will be times when you’ll consider giving up and turning your back on your faith and following the culture.

Don’t give in, don’t give up, don’t ever quit on Jesus. There is a reward waiting for you in heaven.   That reward is waiting for us when we walk with King Jesus. It’s written about in Revelation 2:25-28.   Don’t give in, don’t settle, don’t believe the lie… Be rebelutionary.
