Aim for your life’s mission, and everything else comes into focus

Have you ever felt a bit lost or unsure about what your true calling in life might be? If so, you’re definitely not alone. It’s a worthy challenge to chase after your life’s mission.  There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction and fulfillment that comes with finding your purpose and starting to work toward it.

Kyle Lamb has figured out how to help people stay in the fight after they leave the military.  He has turned this into his new life’s mission.  And, because he’s one of the most well-respected names in marksmanship and tactical training… I don’t know anyone hitting the bullseye better (Do you like what I did there?) on their life’s mission than Kyle.

I wrote the rest of this article to help you find your life’s mission and hit the bullseye…

We all need a mission in life

Countless people will waste years of their life unfulfilled and aimless because they need a clearly defined mission.  Bookstore shelves are full of self-help books trying to give people a sense of purpose. However, no one can tell you your personal life mission. A life mission is a defining passion that every person must figure out for themselves.

When Kyle was retiring from the US Army, he went through a brief period of aimlessness. This aimlessness turned into separation anxiety because he wasn’t sure what to do with the rest of his life.  For many career warriors, the period immediately after leaving the military can turn into a downward spiral and into a loss of identity and self-worth.  Kyle got back on his feet when he replaced his military mission with a new, clearly defined mission in life.

The first step in pursuing your life’s mission is understanding your identity. This can take some time and soul-searching, but it’s important to take the time to think about what you want to accomplish in life. Consider your passions, skills, and values. What do you feel most strongly about? What comes naturally to you? What do you believe in?

Don’t aim at someone else’s target

Your life’s mission cannot be separated from your identity.  Who you are determines what you do with your life.  It never works the other way around.  Once you have identified your life’s mission, it’s time to take action. This can be a scary step, but it’s important to remember that pursuing your mission is worth the risk. Start by setting small goals to help you work toward your larger goals. This will help you build momentum and keep you motivated.

It’s easy to get off target

Finally, remember that pursuing your life’s mission is a journey, not a destination. It’s easy to get off track along the way.  Stay focused, and keep moving forward despite the setbacks and challenges on your journey.

Kyle continues to impact the world with his new life mission.  Ultimately, pursuing your life’s mission is about finding purpose and meaning. It’s about making a difference and leaving a lasting impact. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. So, take a training tip from Kyle and start pursuing your life’s mission today.
